Ante and Post-natal Services
At JYphysiotherapy we understand how pregnancy and motherhood can take its toll on your body and offer tailor-made services focusing on how to return to fitness post baby. We provide a number of different services for ante- natal and post natal women.
1:1 Pilates Sessions designed for you
Pilates during pregnancy is a very effective way to continue exercising through to labour. Pilates focuses on breathing, gentle movements, maintaining good posture and flexibility which helps maintain your body and prepares you for labour. We do an initial 1:1 assessment and take a medical history and we then assess your level and can either design you a home programme or you can join in a suitable group class. All Pilates classes are run by physiotherapists trained in APPI Pilates.
Pilates Group Classes for both ante-natal and post natal pregnancy
During our classes we take you through a routine that involves mobility, control of movements, gentle strength work and relaxation breathing. The classes are designed to allow for your stage of pregnancy and instructors are physiotherapists so are aware of medical issues and exercise.

Mid Back and low back pain during pregnancy
During the course of your pregnancy your body will start to change to accommodate your baby. Sometimes these changes increase the stresses put on different areas of your body. Mid back and low back pain are common especially if you are prone to having some pain in those regions normally. Physiotherapy can help to identify the problem and we can do soft tissue massage and other techniques to reduce the symptoms and offer advice on posture and exercises.
Back care during pregnancy and preparation for labour
Even if you are not suffering with your back it's often worth taking advice on posture and back care during and after pregnancy. If you have any questions regarding any of these issues please discuss with one of our physiotherapists and we can assess whether you would need an appointment.
Advice on exercising during pregnancy
